MEET THE SCULPTOR EVENING AT EDGELEY PARK

This was the moment we had been waiting for since the campaign to
erect a statue in memory of the amazing Danny Bergara was launched-
our chosen sculptor the excellent award-winning Hannah Stewart was
in Stockport to meet County supporters and update us as to progress on
the statue.

Held in the Hardcastle Suite at Edgeley Park last night, if the evening
wasn`t a `sell- out` a decent number made it to the venue despite the
lack of signage at County`s HQ, and the general opinion offered
afterwards by those present was that it was a massively worthwhile
experience and a confidence builder confirming that we really will get
that statue in place in the very near future.
Hannah came by train for her second visit to Edgeley Park, from her
home in Horsham with her husband Simon and it was a delight to see
Simon and Lorna Bergara enjoying a pre-event chat at the bar.
During an illuminating presentation Hannah produced sketches of the
proposed statue pose which is being worked on. She expects to be
working on it until around January time before the moulds will then go
to the foundry to be cast into bronze, following a scrupulous
consultation process- making end of this season a definite possibility
for statue erection.

Thanks to Nick Lee who hosted the event for the evening introducing
Supporters Cooperative Chair Pete Towey and former players Paul
Wheeler and Paul Jones who each spoke with pride of Danny in the
90`s and his profound effect on County`s fortunes.
Supporters were able to ply Hannah and the players with questions and
the applause was loud and long following this.
As mentioned above , there will be much necessary consultation twixt
sculptor/ the Supporters Cooperative and the Bergara Family before
the statue is erected, ensuring the end product is spot on.
