Co-Op Board Meets at Edgeley Park Ahead of Final Home Fixture
Just a couple of hours before our final home game of the regular season, the Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative held one of our regular board meetings at Edgeley Park itself. We’re very grateful to the club for helping us by providing a venue despite them being busy on a match day.
These regular meetings allow us to discuss matters that arise from various sources including social media, direct contact from our members and from the wider fanbase. Our direct line to the club allows us to raise topics with the relevant officials but at the same time we must be selective; we cannot get our way on absolutely everything and there will be times that the club will take decisions that may not be popular but have to stand in the wider commercial interest.
We believe the advent of the Independent Football Regulator means a greater role for fan representatives in decision making and will deepen our involvement with the club in future. The IFR’s charter means:
· Fans have a say in key decisions about their club’s identity.
· Clubs must maintain a structured and meaningful dialogue with their fan bases on key issues.
· The establishment of a Fan Advisory Panel to work with the Football Supporters Association to bring together selected fan representatives to discuss their priorities and experiences.
· A focus on financial sustainability, particularly welcome in these days of monumental losses, especially in our next target, the Championship.
