Why Membership of the Co-op Matters

Membership of the Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative makes a real difference. Your membership helps fund projects that support Stockport County, strengthen the Club’s relationship with the community and provide opportunities and support for fellow County supporters.
Making a Difference
Over the years, Co-op membership has helped fund a wide range of initiatives.
Community Tickets
Between 2018 and 2023, we invited 111 junior football clubs and 35 community groups to Edgeley Park, providing a total of 6,835 tickets.
The initiative also played a part in County’s average attendance growing from around 3,500 in 2017/18 to 9,000 in 2022/23.
Flag Bearer Scheme
For the past five seasons, membership has helped fund the Community Trust’s flag bearer scheme, giving young players the opportunity to lead County onto the pitch at Edgeley Park.
Almost 2,000 youngsters have benefited from the scheme, with many going on to become regular County supporters.
Bergara Statue
The Co-op played a leading role in the campaign to raise £60,000 for the Bergara statue.
Our initial £2,000 contribution, alongside Help the Hatters’ donation, helped get the project off the ground and encouraged others to support the campaign.
Supporting County Fans
Membership income has also helped provide match tickets for supporters experiencing financial difficulties, ensuring they can watch a game at Edgeley Park. If you would like to be considered for tickets, email us at season.tickets@countysupporterscoop.co.uk.
The Guardian Account
Your support has helped establish the Guardian Account, which now stands at more than £88,000. Funds have now been split between two high interest bank accounts.
The fund would provide a starting point, if the worst were to happen and a phoenix club was required.
Giving Supporters a Voice
A strong membership also gives the Co-op greater credibility and influence when representing County supporters.
This was particularly important during the campaign to redevelop Edgeley Park. Following the initial rejection of the Club’s planning application, the Co-op supported the Club in the national media, engaged with local councillors and represented County supporters at the main planning committee meeting.
The application was subsequently approved.
A strong membership helps ensure we have a collective voice when engaging with Stockport County, Stockport Council and other organisations on issues that matter to supporters.
Benefits of Membership
Membership is about more than what we can achieve together. There are also direct benefits for members, including:
- £2 off every away-match coach journey with Edgeley Con Club coaches.
- £5 off Co-op events, plus priority access.
In recent years, we have hosted events featuring County legends and former players, including Dave Jones, Antoni Sarcevic and Andy Preece. We have also celebrated the National League North champions, and another fantastic event featuring two County legends is currently being arranged.
We also launched a new Co-op website in January, providing supporters with regular news, information and updates.
Representing All County Supporters
While membership is at the heart of everything we do, we believe the Co-op should represent as broad a section of the County fanbase as possible.
That is why we share news and information with all supporters, rather than restricting our communications to members.
Members can attend our AGM, held in November, and stand for election to the Co-op board.
Your Membership Matters
The Co-op exists to support Stockport County, strengthen its relationship with the community and represent the interests of County supporters.
We hope these examples show what your membership helps us achieve and the difference your support makes.
