Buckets of joy

Smile Graham!

As well as Stockport County Supporters Co-operative working alongside St Ann's Hospice as joint-beneficiaries of the first "County Charity Cycle", our fans and members have generously given up time last weekend to undertake a bucket collection in the Decathlon store.

As you know, St Ann's Hospice is the adopted Charity of Stockport County Football Club in 2012-2013. Graham Privett (pictured), Adrian Stores, Dave Roe and Russ Johnson collected a magnificent £128.52, which goes fully to the Hospice. A collection at Edgeley Park before the last game raised £138.74. The next collection at a match will be Stockport County v Bath Saturday 24th March.

The bike ride has been co-ordinated by County fans, Russ Johnson, David Roe and Adrian Stores; and Amanda Brown from St Ann's Hospice. All proceeds raised will be split between St Ann's Hospice and Stockport County Supporters' Co-operative.

Anyone wishing to take part should be 16 years of age or over (16 and 17 year olds need to be accompanied by an adult). Cost of entry is £15 and all riders gain entry free of charge into the match, courtesy of Southport Football Club. The ride is open to fans of both clubs and the wider general public.

Southport's FC are also supporting the event by giving free entry to the game to anyone taking part in the bike ride. Director and Commercial Manager, Haydn Preece, comments: "Of course we will give free entry for those cycling as fundraisers on the day"

The selected route will cater for both leisurely, fun cyclists and more seasoned riders. A total of 46.7 miles and flat.

All cyclists and their bikes will be returned to Stockport in transport kindly provided by Bullocks and P Fahey & Sons respectively. Other generous sponsors assisting the County Charity Cycle include: Parfetts, Life Leisure, Leemic and Decathlon.

Rob Clare County's commercial mananger has given the clubs full backing by taking part in the race and said “I think a cycle ride to Southport sounds like a good idea and St Ann’s Hospice would appreciate some extra support”.

The leading male and female fundraisers will receive a special, limited edition "26 – Cycling” 3 piece kit from the Olympic Range of clothing kindly donated by Adidas.

Supporters Co-op Statement: Gary Ablett

6 January 2012

Stockport County Supporters' Co-operative note with sorrow the untimely passing of Gary Ablett. He managed County through its season in administration, a time of great difficulty and frustration, with dignity and loyalty for which we remain grateful. He came to watch County play as recently as 29 October at Southport, much to the pleasure and appreciation of the fans.

His death is a loss to the football community. We offer our sympathy to his family and friends.
