Third Hatters Half Marathon a Massive Success
Yesterday saw the third Hatters Half Marathon, promoted by the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative, take to the streets and trails of Stockport and around, as over 300 runners lined up outside Edgeley Park at 9.30 am.
It was another great success with brilliant feedback from runners from all over the UK….

Thanks for today; fabulous race and very well organised. I was over the moon with my race time and managed to run the whole way up the final hill without stopping! I’ve run all three years of this race and it was my first time. It paid off too, since incredibly, when I’ve just looked at the results, I came 4th in my age category (V50). Thanks again for a fabulous race. I’ll definitely be back again next year for year 4. – Phil Calcutt
Thanks for a great day today, it was brilliantly organised. Lovely atmosphere. You kindly gave me a place for the Wellspring, so far I’ve raised £185, so I just wanted to say thanks. – Claire Adams
Thanks John to you and the organisers. Please pass on thanks to all of the volunteers too. It was a very well run and enjoyable event. – Ciaran Flanagan

We will not know for a short while until Race Director John Giles has done the sums, just what contribution the race will make to the Guardian Account and charity’s, but the impact in this direction is likely to be significant, pushing the Guardian Account beyond £40000.
We can tell you for certain that Supporters Cooperative member Des Greene, running to raise money for the Guardian Account clocked a personal best of 2 .12.23 being well under his pre-race target time.
We are very proud of Des’s effort which ,so far , has raised £770 for the Guardian Account.
The above is Des’s Just Giving Account, and in this respect this Just Giving Account only continues to operate until Friday 8 September, so if you want to support Des with a donation there are just 4 days in which to do this online. After that date you can collar Des and hand him a quid or so and he will be very grateful for the support.
