RIP Jacqui Forster 1962-2018
Stockport County Supporters Co-operative would not exist without Jacqui Forster. Throughout our black years, from 2009 when the Club under Trust ownership went into administration, to 2013 when a dynamic new board stepped up to take over from the transitional caretakers, Jacqui was a boundless source of energy, wisdom, and encouragement. She attended Board and public meetings and AGMs, read draft policy documents, advised me on governance, and helped us believe we could pull through and become once again a voice for County supporters.
All this while on the roller-coaster of cancer treatment.
This is a huge loss – to those of us fortunate enough to have known her personal support and friendship, to all the many Supporters Trusts she helped and nurtured, and to Supporters Direct and the whole movement for fans’ representation and share ownership.
Of many good memories, my favourite is of the night when Jacqui’s beloved Altringham played at Edgeley Park, and the Co-op board invited her to be our guest for the pre-match hospitality. She was sparkling – clearly savouring the irony of consorting with the enemy, while glowing with praise for our success in keeping SCSC alive.
Deeply as we miss her, let us celebrate her life.
